Pressure-Driven Analysis of Network Sections Supplied Via high-lying Nodes
Analyse conduite par la pression des parties de réseau alimentées par des noeuds élevés
Résumé
Nowadays, it is a current practice to guarantee adequate quantities of water at sufficient pressures is delivered to water distribution system users running hydraulic computer models. This paper is focused on better hydraulic predictions for network section supplied via a node experiencing negative pressure. This may occur if the normal supply pipe to the network section has failed. However, in most pressure-driven algorithms, the supply to the network section is maintained, and thus an incorrect solution is obtained. An extension to previous pressure-driven formulations is proposed that considers this special case, and is able to find the correct solution accurately and efficiently. The method is illustrated on a small case study. A significant advantage of the proposed method is that it does not rely on the detection of topological changes, but is able to handle the special case above implicitly.
