Résumé

In the night of 27-28 December 1999 a strong storm (wind speed > 150 km.h-1) occurred in the southwest of France, causing an exceptional water elevation in the Gironde estuary, causing the partial submersion of a Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii Brandt 1869) fishfarm with the escapement of approximately 27 tonnes of Siberian sturgeon into the last watershed sheltering the endangered European sturgeon Acipenser sturio L. We detailed recovery operation initiated and potential consequences on the european sturgeon population.
