The effects of sampling effort on saproxylic beetle diversity assessments
Influence de l’effort d’échantillonnage sur l’évaluation de la diversité des coléoptères saproxyliques
Résumé
We studied how slight changes in sampling effort can influence species richness and species composition of assemblages in data sets from standard window-flight traps. Species detection was similarly increased by either year replication or trap replication. Our results highlight the significant role played by fine-scale patterns of habitat structure and inter-annual variation in determining catch numbers and structuring assemblages of saproxylic species.
