Development of continuous phosphorus recycling pilot process to obtain mineral fertilizer from biologically treated pig slurry

Mise au point d’un pilote de recyclage du phosphore des lisiers de porcs traités biologiquement sous forme d’un engrais minéral phosphaté

Résumé

Previous studies have shown that it was feasible, at bench scale, to recycle P from pig slurry as mineral fertiliser by a simple acidification/precipitation process. In this study the influence of several parameters on the continuous pilot process designed from the bench scale results were tested. The pH, mixing and solid retention time were the main factors influencing the process. With high pH (9,5), short solid retention time (4h.) and slow mixing (100r.min-1) the abatement rate was closed to 100% both on dissolved and total phosphorus. Between 1,5 and 9,2g. of dry product per litter of influent were collected. The agronomic properties of this mix of struvite, calcium phosphate and magnesium oxide will be tested soon.
